The School of Design, Engineering & Computing holds a Research Studentship of £12K per annum, for a three-year period, working to the degree of PhD.
The research project concerns ceramic rolling bearing durability and the influence of subsurface damage on the lubricated rolling contact fatigue performance of silicon nitride. The research work predominantly involves physical laboratory experiments with some finite element analysis. Candidates with a good first degree in materials engineering science or mechanical engineering and preferably some industrial experience are invited to apply.
